Guys... I LOVE this series! I just finished this in one sitting as I couldnt stop reading. If youre a fan of the Illuminae books, I think youd enjoy this series.

Guys... I LOVE this series! I just finished this in one sitting as I couldn’t stop reading. If you’re a fan of the Illuminae books, I think you’d enjoy this series.

Naomi, along with 5 of her brilliant International Space Training Camp classmates, and two AI’s, lift off on the spaceship Pontus to head to Jupiter’s moon, Europa, to begin the years long mission to start colonization of the ice moon as Earth deteriorates. Their mission to begin the terraforming process is imperative so that the Earth’s survivors can then follow after to make Europa their new home.

In the meantime, Leo, who was not selected for the mission ends up working on his own mission to save the six from what he believes they’ll find on Europa.

This 2nd book takes place in space as the six teens face sabatoge of their communication systems and other perilous mishaps.

Throughout the book, Naomi and Leo miss each other never knowing if they’ll ever see each other again. This second book is once again told from their two interchanging POVs and I couldn’t get enough of them. I absolutely adore this couple and can’t wait to find out what happens next!

YOU GUYS. If you haven't read the first book, The Final Six, you cannot start this one. It really wouldn't make sense, just go back and read it. I promise you'll fly through it. This book though? HOLY CRAP, it was so good. I stayed up all night reading this, and if you're a fan of the Hunger Games/Divergent model of adults with ulterior motives manipulating teenagers who end up being smarter, then this is your next read. Naomi is an amazing, strong female lead (even with her panic attacks!), and

Naomi is an amazing, strong female lead (even with her panic attacks!), and her relationship with Leo is strong and a good model. I really couldn't stop this and the concept of Earth deteriorating is timely, and the idea of colonizing anywhere else is terrifying but also exciting. I cannot wait for the next book!!

This was a very nice continuation of the first book, most of it took place outside of Earth and we got to explore some very cool stuff. I still love the relationship between Naomi and Leo, they're adorable and I want them to be happy. This novel still left a lot of questions answered though and maybe even had some potential plot holes? Anyway, I'm ready for the sequel and I hope it comes quicker this time!

    This.

was what I wanted when I made it a goal to read more science fiction. The secondand final bookto

blew its predecessor out of this world.

Seriously though, this felt like an entirely different book. One I would have liked at least two more of. It fixes the issues I had with the first, is much darker (like I wanted) and dabbles with a little bit of horror.

Ill start with the resolved issues. What kept

    This.

was what I wanted when I made it a goal to read more science fiction. The second—and final book—to

blew it’s predecessor out of this world.

Seriously though, this felt like an entirely different book. One I would have liked at least two more of. It fixes the issues I had with the first, is much darker (like I wanted) and dabbles with a little bit of horror.

I’ll start with the resolved issues. What kept

from being the science fiction I wanted was my inability to suspend my disbelief. The way the mission to Europa was set up was just too big a pill to swallow. Like, if you’re putting your faith in the survival of humanity in the hands of a few teenagers with a few weeks of space camp training under their belts, you doomed. Technically, this still had that on a more extreme level with Leo in the first half, but I could stomach it. And that was mainly due to my darling Naomi. That smart cookie of a girl is in space and going about her day as though she’s trained for this her whole life.

That’s it. I enjoyed it so much more because it didn’t feel like these characters were being lined up to fail.

Another thing I didn’t realize about the first until reading this sequel is there were next to zero stakes in it. So, you don’t get into the Final Six. Meh. You’ll go home and deal with life as it was. It’s literally life and death now!

. It was next to impossible for me to put this down because I needed to know what happened next. Naomi’s chapters were, of course, far more interesting given that they took place in space, but even Leo’s chapters picked up after the halfway mark.

The intrigue was super fascinating as well. Life aboard the ship to Europa is not all peachy. The book opens on a flash forward to a situation that would be

dire for anyone in space. Read: the loss of their communications antenna. And it smells like sabotage!

Honestly, the element of mystery to this book added so much life to it! Again, it made it hard to put down since I needed to know what happened. Who is behind all of this and

I think my favourite new addition to this book was the small taste of freaky and horror. Space is overflowing with the unknown from worlds never seen and the life that could possibly live there— *cough* Aliens *cough*—and this sequel gave me exactly what I hoped for! Part of what worked well with the first book was Naomi investigating the possibility of there being alien life on Europa. That came full circle in a delicious way and even brought in a

thought-provoking theme of colonialism in space.

    Last but not least,

! Guys, I don't know what I just read or what it means considering this is only a duology, but my mind is blown! Just ...

. It's an ending Monir was building towards the entire series and let me assure you you will not be disappointed.

This book has me seriously obsessed with science fiction novels now. I usually have a hard time with them because I feel like I can’t understand all of the science involved in it – most of the time anyway – and sure there may have been some parts of this novel that are still over my head… but man this book really was amazing.

This book takes place after the first one obviously, and wow there were some things that happened in here that I was not expecting. It actually makes me want to revisit both of these novels to get back into the story and see what I missed the first time around. The concept of the Final Six competition and the aftermath of everything that happened in the first novel really gets fleshed out in this one. The more that we follow Naomi and Leo in their separate journeys was great honestly. I actually like that we got to still see Leo on Earth in the aftermath because of all the controversy that ended up going on with the previous group of astronauts, and everything that happened with the Final Six competition.

This book just blew me away in the best way.

Kind of also makes me wish that we were already living in their future because maybe things would be way more interesting than they are now.

I loved The Final Six when I read it last year and for some reason I completely missed the announcement for this book? So when I saw it on twitter I just assumed it was just announced and it'd take a year or two to be published but??? It's coming out next month???? I'M GOING TO SCREAM
